Holding the first international congress of biomarkers

The first international Congress of Biomarkers was held from 3rd to 5th March 1401 at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Educational and Medical Center in Urmia. In the opening of the ceremony, Dr. Saber Qolizadeh, Vice President of Research and Technology of Urmia University of Medical Sciences and Executive Secretary of the Congress, pointed out the measures taken by the university in 1401 in the field of research and technology.


Also, Dr. Youssef Masmi, the scientific secretary of the first international Congress of Biomarkers, stated: Many researchers were looking for biomarkers to diagnose and treat this virus at the beginning of the Corona virus in order to reduce the death rate due to it. He went on to say: Considering the importance of biomarkers in the diagnosis and treatment of the corona virus, the department of clinical biochemistry and applied cell sciences of the university sent a request to hold the first international Congress of Biomarkers to the University of Medical Sciences of the province. The conference was held.


This congress was arranged in 8 axes, 93% of the articles submitted to it were accepted and 55% of the participants in this congress were women and 45% were men.
The axes of this congress were:
- Biomarkers in cancer
- Biomarkers in individual medicine
- Emerging biomarkers
- Biomarkers of immunity and transplant rejection
- Biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases
- Biomarkers in the epigenetics of diseases
- Biomarkers and stem cells
- Other functional biomarkers
- Congress special axis: Biomarkers in Covid-19

The scientific secretary of the congress added: 800 people were registered in the first international congress of biomarkers, 350 people were related to retraining and 450 people were present in this congress by sending articles, posters and other things. About one third of the congress articles were related to cancer. And most of the articles were from West Azarbaijan province.
In the end, he said: In the first international congress of biomarkers, articles were sent from countries such as India, Turkey, Australia, America, Greece, Pakistan, Czech Republic, China, England, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Chad, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates.
This congress had the privilege of retraining and held educational workshops.
